About Penny's Family Day Care
I loved running my family day care through Chasing Rainbows Family Day Care, which operates on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.
I have now closed, but Chasing Rainbows has Malinya Rd Family Day Care in Allambie Heights, and other care in the surrounding suburbs.

Penny's Family Day Care Philosophy
I believe all children should be loved, respected and cared for. My aim is for all children to feel at home in my care and to feel confident that I value them and enjoy their unique personalities. I love getting to know each child and understanding how they feel, how they are thinking and what excites them.
Families are important to me and we work together to do what is best for the children. I seek to understand each child’s background and incorporate aspects of their family and culture into our everyday program. I enjoy learning words and songs in other languages and using these with the children.
I believe children learn through play. I observe each individual’s interests and development, and use this information to plan play experiences which are offered to the children. I value creativity and imagination, and view the process of play as more important than the product. For example, I view a child-directed craft as more beneficial than what the finished creation looks like.
I provide open-ended play materials which foster creative thinking and encourage imagination. I combine this with intentional teaching as relevant to the children’s needs and interests.
I adore children’s literature and have a large collection of picture books which I love sharing with the children. I am a picture book author and you can see my books at www.pennymorrison.net. I promote literacy primarily through the love of reading, which can begin in infancy.
I enjoy including music in the daily program, spontaneously, as planned group times and to help with transitions. Children love dancing around the room with an adult and being silly together.
Caring for our environment is important to me and I aim to pass this on to the children in my care. I use recycled equipment when possible and aim to use biodegradable products and minimise the use of plastic. I prefer natural materials and spend loads of time outside in our own yard and at local parks.
I believe it’s important to be flexible and understanding. I laugh with the children and have fun together with them every day.
